"I hesitated doing this challenge because who wants to be restricted during the holidays? After much contemplation I realized that they were holidays... not holi-weeks or months. My philosophy was simple: portion control. I focused on my food scale rather than my weight scale. I enjoyed the holidays and am thrilled to have done it without gaining weight. Win or lose this was a personal triumph for me because with the fun (and stress) of the last couple of months I didn't turn to food. So I am confidently starting 2009 with a 10 pound weight loss not to mention size smaller. Go me!"
10 POUNDS!!?? Way to go LISA!!
Caryn R. sent me these photos! I usually wouldn't put anyone on the blog in a sports bra, but you are too hot not too! Way to go Caryn!!
You're smiling because you love it - aren't you?!! And, um, hello? Where can I get me some of THOSE shorts!! HOTTIE!

"What a time I had shedding some weight! These past few months have been busy with family time and holidays, and also busy with getting in shape! Why should I win this contest? Let me count the reasons:
First, our family has spent countless hours planning meals and grocery lists as to not deviate from 'the plan' to loose weight. I recruited my husband the end September, and he has even lost a total of 16 pounds and is now running along side me!!! Now this is a guy that HATES cardio with a passion, yet now can run over 5 miles without so much as a whine or complaint. He frequently is the first one to mention, "We HAVE to go workout today." He is my motivation and I his. What a change! We change things up, as well, by incorporating bicycling (he says it reminds him of his mission) and swimming (a very humbling exercise time for me).
Second, our refrigerator has survived a complete makeover with fruits and veggies galore! We could be the poster children for a healthy fridge in Wikepedia...no kidding. Look up 'healthy eating' and you will see a picture our fridge. Now everyone who knows me well, knows that I am a coke head (Coca~Cola, of course) and I've managed to NOT have a coke for the longest time. I have no idea how long it has been, but it has been quite some time (I try not to dwell on the details, so I don't end up wanting one). Now that is a HUGE change for me! My fridge does have Diet Mt Dew, I have to admit; however a case lasts us several weeks and is only a special treat to be enjoyed sparingly. I've included a picture of our fridge...mmmm, healthy food.
Third, my closet has been renovated! I've bought new clothes (my favorite part) and a new swim suit! The end of January we will be going on a cruise to Cozumel, The Grand Cayman, Belize, and Honduras and I feel no shame in my 'beach body.' I've included a picture of my old belt that is too big and my new belt that I wear. Crazy to see the inches in difference! Also, I've included a picture of my old pants that I wore pre-pregnancy...yes, pre-pregnancy. They are a size 14 and now I wear a size 10!
Lastly, I started SHM's in June roughly, and that began my trek to working towards my dream body (that I once had in college ;). Since October, I have lost a grand total of 12 pounds! My total inches lost since October is: 5 inches! I've also lost 4% body fat!!!! Today is my 29th birthday and I feel better at 29 than I have in years!
The most important lesson I have learned is about loving my body, no matter what my size. I want to be around for my children and enjoy life with them. Life is not only about races and being thin, but most importantly life is about wanting to be healthy. My journey is not through, for I still have some pounds to lose, however I feel this has been a great start! I wish all my fellow SHM's good luck, because it's not about winning or losing, it's about feeling good about who you are and doing the very best you can, whatever the best may be. Bring on 2009!
