Dare to Change! Jan wk3

Can somebody PLEASE kick this cheerleader in the bloomers??!!

....then remind me that they don't even fit yet!

I tell you what, I was afraid that this was going to happen to me. I started off totally strong and watched my eating, did great on my workouts, and re-vamped and renewed my dedication. And then, I got the two-week itch! Because I have done this before I knew it would come. I was prepared (or so I thought) mentally and stocked my pantry so that I couldn't lose myself in the depths of a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. You see the first two to three weeks are the hardest! For sure! Hands down!

You start out gung-ho and the world is yours to tackle. The house gets cleaned, the miles get ran, and the fruit - is there ever an end to the fruit! But then about half-way through week 2 something really bad but really normal happens. YOU GET HUNGRY! It happened to me. Did it get you? Because you are upping your activity and hopefully knocking down your fat intake your metabolism picks up the pace and you get hungry much more often than before. The fatty, big meals that used to be a part of life no matter which form they came in (drive thru, playing clean up crew for your kids lunches after you have eaten your own, or making easy quick spaghetti for dinner) aren't there (or shame on you if they are!) and the leaner, healthier foods don't seem to last with you as long. Really isn't that the idea though?

So I find myself grabbing anything in sight. I'm popping like 3 clementines at a time, a fiber one bar (luckily I know to stop at one of these babies - made that mistake before and DO NOT intend on repeating it - YIKES!), and then busting into the kids goldfish. Bad bad. Although everything I ate was relatively healthy (whole grain goldfish thank you very much), I could tell I was on a downward spiral and fast. Then I sponsored a Jane Austen night for church and knew I was going to be losing my 7:30 point and more than likely my sugar point. And come on girls let's be real, the movie is over 5 hours long so the 7 hours of sleep point....down the drain. Something mentally switches when you know you won't or can't get all the possible points so you just kinda count the day as lost and then totally take advantage of it- eating some candy, I know I ate my weight in spin dip, and on and on. Why do I do this? It is really hard to get back on track once you're off. Fri and Sat were about as bad. I think I made a football field's worth of spin dip and have almost eaten my way to the opposing team's goal post by now.

I had the grand idea of running the MARATHON challenge but I'm afraid I barely squeaked in enough miles to get the 1/2 challenge points.

There is a point to all of this I swear....well maybe.

Our numbers are about 150 ladies and I am wondering how many of you lost a little fizzle this week? As I said, wk2 and wk3 are the hardest to keep going. You are working really hard and may not see any results from your hard work yet. It is very easy to get discouraged if that is the case. And to be honest, it more than likely is. It usually takes about 3 weeks to start to SEE anything. You should be FEELING it though!

You should feel healthier!

You should feel more accomplished!

You should feel more in charge of your habits!

You should feel more energized!

You should feel more excited!

So don't let wk2 and 3 get you down! You can do this!!

YOU WANT IT AND IT IS WITHIN YOUR GRASP!

I'll tell you what I told the girls at aerobics this week when we were working the cardio routine, and I could tell some of them were starting to fade on me.

Think about pulling on those jeans fresh out of the dryer. You pull them up to your thighs and -wow- they keep going. You pull them up to your derriere and -look out- they made it past. Now is the real test. You go to button them and they button! Without so much stress that the button pops off and flies across the room and someone loses an eye. (I hate when that happens - very embarrassing- not to mention bad for the person that loses the eye). But, you look down and no muffin top. No fold over. No jean waistband getting lost in your "waistband". AAAAAANNNNNNDDDDDD to top it all off you don't have to do 15 squats to make it look like you didn't have to do 15 squats!!

What could be better!?! That is why we ran the miles this week! That is why we pee every hour on the hour! That is why we pick strawberries and not apple pie! That is why we are SMOKIN' HOT MOMMAS!

WE WANT ENERGY!

WE WANT MENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND SPIRITUAL STRENGTH!

WE WANT BALANCED, HEALTHY LIVES!

WE WANT JEANS THAT FIT AND A BODY THAT FITS IN THEM!!

WE WANT TO BE SMOKIN'!!

Don't fold! Don't do it!!

Dare to Change!

I found this clip from Lance Armstrong - yeah, THE Lance Armstrong. I love what he says. Check it out! He pretty much nails my whole philosophy in a much shorter statement than I would ever say.
(Some say I'm long winded, I just can't see it.) :)

BTW- this is connected to some crazy body builder guy profile so don't go clickin' around and get weirded out.

Have an awesome, sweaty, fiber-filled, fat bursting, amazing week 3!!!

spirit fingers going like crazy,

I got this great email today....this is why I do this! Thanks Matea

Hi!! I just have to tell you I am LOVING this program! I had a Thursday meltdown too...an out of town day. BUT...I did get the whole 26 miles ran last week and I ran another 5 tonight! I've never ran that far in my life!!!! Thank you so much for the motivation with not only the physical fitness part of my life but with also my spiritual. It's been awhile since I've regularly read my scriptures and I like what it brings into my life. My daughter and I have also read TWO Junie B. Jones books in the last couple of weeks. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!

Got this from Lisa also. (I'm sure it is the age!) :)

I'm relieved to hear it wasn't just me! I completely blamed it on my mom being in town and my birthday (not to mention the age was freaking me out). But maybe I was just hungry after all!

Hey bonnie! I read this last week and didn't have time to post with all the craziness, but I just wanted to say thanks for getting my rear end in gear and helping me get healthy! I'm feeling better than I have in a long time! I owe that to my whole team of cheerleaders!
